Do I qualify?

Six questions. About a minute. No paperwork needed yet.

Most homeowners are not sure whether what happened to them is a legal problem or just a bad deal. This quick screener walks through the facts that matter most in Texas solar cases — how it was sold, how it was financed, and what the system has actually produced.

Nothing here is a case evaluation, and answering does not create an attorney-client relationship. It just tells you whether it is worth sending us the documents.

Question 1 of 6

How did you pay for your solar system?

Not sure? Check who your monthly payment goes to. A lender means a loan. The solar company means a lease or PPA.

Why I built this practice

I’m Ryan Ray, and I’m a solar customer who got burned too

I have been a Texas attorney for 17 years, and my career has been spent fighting for property owners like you — standing between an owner and a system that is stacked against them.

A few years ago I put solar panels on my own home. I believed in it then and I still do. What I got was thousands of dollars in loan payments and production far below what was projected to me at the kitchen table. The numbers on the proposal and the numbers on my meter were not the same story.

So I did what most homeowners do: I hired a large firm advertising solar cases. I signed their agreement, and then I never heard from them again. No updates, no strategy, no call back. If that is what happens to a lawyer who knows how to chase people down, imagine what happens to everyone else.

That is when I decided to fight back — for myself and for other Texas homeowners. I believe in the benefits of solar power. But the way it is sold, financed, and installed in this state is royally broken and, in too many cases, flatly predatory.

Loan cancellation

Stuck paying for solar that never performed? Loan cancellation may be on the table.

Most homeowners who call us do not want a lawsuit. They want the loan gone, the panels fixed or removed, and their credit protected. When your system is producing far less than the salesperson promised, that gap is often the core of the case.

System never energized

You are making payments on panels that were never inspected, never interconnected, or never turned on.

Disclosures never delivered

Missing or buried cancellation notices and Truth in Lending disclosures can extend your rescission rights.

Sales misrepresentations

Production, savings, tax credit, or payment promises that do not match what you signed.

Lender still collecting

The installer may be gone, but the finance company that funded the deal can still be answerable.

Underperformance from promised production

Your proposal showed a certain production or savings number. Your actual bills and monitoring data tell a different story. That shortfall can support rescission, damages, or a negotiated loan cancellation.

What we handle

If your solar deal went wrong, there is usually a claim

Misleading Sales Pitches

Promised savings, tax credits, or a 'free' system that never matched the contract you signed.

Systems That Underperform or Never Worked

Never energized, failed inspection, abandoned mid-project, or producing far below the savings and production numbers you were promised.

Solar Loan Cancellation & Disputes

Dealer fees, escalating payments, or a lender demanding payment on a system that was never finished. We pursue loan cancellation when the sale was misrepresented or the system was never delivered.

Arbitration Clauses

Most Texas solar contracts force disputes into arbitration. That is the forum we build cases for.

Roof & Property Damage

Leaks, voided roof warranties, and damage from unlicensed or careless subcontractors.

Liens & Credit Problems

UCC-1 filings clouding your title, and credit reporting problems tied to a disputed solar loan.

Why arbitration

Your contract probably decided the forum before you ever had a dispute

Nearly every residential solar purchase agreement and dealer-financed loan in Texas contains an arbitration clause, often with a class-action waiver. That means your claim will likely be heard by a single arbitrator under AAA or JAMS rules rather than a jury.

Arbitration is not a dead end. It is a different playing field with its own deadlines, fee-shifting rules, and evidence strategy. We build files specifically for that process: the sales recordings, the production data, the inspection history, and the paper trail between the dealer and the lender.

Texas law

The DTPA gives Texas homeowners leverage

The Texas Deceptive Trade Practices–Consumer Protection Act prohibits false, misleading, and deceptive sales practices. When a violation is committed knowingly, a consumer may recover additional damages beyond economic loss, plus attorney’s fees. Written notice is required before filing, and deadlines apply, so it is worth having your documents reviewed early.

How we work

Documents, deadlines, and persistence

Strong solar cases are built on the paper trail: the purchase agreement, loan documents, change orders, inspection records, production data, and the messages from the salesperson. We take that apart, identify the claims, and push for the outcome that matters to you.

Fees

Clear communication, fees in writing

You will know who is handling your file, what stage it is in, and what happens next. Some matters can be handled on a contingency or hybrid fee basis; contingency fees are calculated on the recovery, and a client may still be responsible for case expenses and court costs. All fee terms are set out in a written agreement before any representation begins.
